CAREER DILEMMAS
As this is my first blog ever so I was very confused about what to write. Then, finally I decided to write something about my personal life which would be worth sharing. The first thought that came to my mind was to write about my Career; how I made it to MBA.
Well, I am sure for this that most of us would have sailed in the same boat as I (except those who were already clear about choosing their career), the problem of choosing a career or rather putting it more specifically, choosing which career? That’s a million dollar question for someone who has just stepped out of the portals of school.
I had participated in almost all the fashion show events that took place in my school and I always received great compliments from my teachers and colleagues who believed that I would do well in Modeling and I was highly motivated by that. I seriously pursued Modeling while doing my graduation and took up 4-5 Fashion Shows through an Institute and in between also got an offer from a Documentary Movie producer (please don’t ask me about any one of those because I still don’t know what happened to that movie and where that Institute has gone, those were all fake I think and let me tell you, there are many like these working in our country)
The problem that some of us would have faced is; we have to choose a career because our parents want us to do that (I know most of us have seen- Taare Zameen Par) but that was never a problem with me. My parents were always very supportive and they always told me to choose that career which excites me. I still remember the day when my mother told me “ Beta Mumbai chaleja, yaha par kuch nahi hoga”. That was the day when I really gave it a serious thought and asked myself whether I should go to Mumbai or not. The answer was in the negative. And then the whole picture changed. I realized the importance of a professional career and planned to do MBA (That was truly my decision). But this time I have been very cautious. I had spent almost three months asking people about MBA and also spoke to some career counselors before finally deciding on it.
And here I am at PROTON business school, enjoying my journey to the hilt and picking some great learnings on my way.
SOME TIPS:
- Choose what you believe is perfect for you: This is my humble request to all to choose that career which excites you and you think- yes this is my cup of tea. Never choose a career which you think is liked by everyone.
- Do take proper precautions: It is very important to take necessary precautions and clear all your if’s and but’s before finalizing your career otherwise it could be very dangerous.
- Do a proper SWOT Analysis of yourself: This is one of the most important point I think because I have seen many people after choosing a career they feel that they would not be able to make it and they are crestfallen. So think a hundred times and try to match your SWOT with your would be career.
THANK YOU ALL….. WAITING FOR YOUR VALUABLE FEEDBACKS.
